Skull Collection – Contemporary Sculptures in Metal Lace

The skull sculptures belong to the great tradition of vanities, while asserting a distinctly modern expression. Made in metal lace, blending steel and bronze, these works play with transparency and emptiness to evoke the frailty of existence and the passage of time.

Far from a grim portrayal, each skull becomes a space for silent reflection, where the openwork material lets light and the gaze pass through. Some are paired with symbolic objects – shell, bottle, chalice – strengthening the dialogue between shared memory, human rites, and the history of art. Each sculpture is hand-crafted in my workshop, making each piece a unique work, both meditative and deeply poetic.

Vanity revisited through metal lace

Through the Skull collection, I explore the human condition and our relationship with time. Metal lace allows suggestion rather than imposition, leaving the viewer freedom of interpretation. The skull, a universal symbol, here becomes an open form, almost alive, where solid and void respond to each other.

These contemporary sculptures find their place both in private collections and exhibition spaces. They speak to those who seek a work rich in meaning, where material, gesture, and silence compose a shared language.
