Gemini 18-3: The Embrace of Empathy and the Mirror of Bodies
With this work, I wanted to move away from rigid geometry to explore the human and sensitive dimension of this sign. This sculpture reinterprets the symbol of Gemini through an organic calligraphy evoking two interlocked bodies. I sought to materialize the deep empathy that unites these two beings: they are no longer just two parallel columns, but two silhouettes that respond to each other, embrace, and support each other in a movement of delicate fusion.
The marriage of steel and bronze, worked in dripping (drop-by-drop fusion), gives these "metal bodies" a vibrant, almost fleshly texture. The metal lace lets light pass through the heart of the embrace, reminding us that true connection to others is born from transparency and openness of the soul. This sculpture is a piece from the Intimate range that brings an energy of tenderness, understanding, and union to your interior.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose this calligraphy of "interlocked bodies"? Gemini symbolizes duality, but also encounter. By drawing the sign as two bodies that interlock, I emphasize empathy. This sculpture illustrates this sign’s ability to put itself in another’s place, to feel their emotions, and to create a bond that goes beyond simple intellectual communication to become a sensitive union.
How does the dripping technique serve this concept of empathy? The drop-by-drop fusion allows the creation of flexible, intertwined lines that a classic cut would not permit. The steel and bronze lace seems to "weave" the two bodies together. The openwork mesh shows that one does not exist without the other: they share the same air, the same light, and the same metal structure.
What are the respective roles of steel and bronze in this piece? The gray steel outlines these silhouettes, bringing strength and durability to the bond. The bronze is fused on the contact areas and curves to bring a golden warmth. These bronze highlights act as points of emotional light, emphasizing the preciousness of this relationship and the brilliance of empathy.
Is this a unique work? Absolutely. Just as every human encounter is unique, the lace design of this 18-3 piece is irreproducible. Entirely hand-drawn, without any mold, this sculpture is an original creation signed Philippe Buil, accompanied by its certificate of authenticity.
How should this piece be displayed to highlight its human aspect? Placed in a shared living space or bedroom, this sculpture radiates softness. Soft lighting will enhance the bronze reliefs and cast intertwined shadows on your walls, creating an atmosphere of intimacy and kindness throughout the room.
