Contemporary and captivating sculpture, it embodies all the delicacy and power of the female body through delicate metallic lace.
With Hopefully, I wanted to capture the effervescent and carefree spirit of the 1900s, between French Cancan and prohibition, where seduction blends with boldness.
This sculpture is a female bust made using my steel and bronze lace technique, whose openwork and organic lines create a play of light that makes the material almost alive.
The body unfolds in a form both supple and assertive, pierced by light and transparency, while the minimalist necklace covered with 24-carat gold leaf punctuates the whole like a subtle flash of luxury and refinement.
I wanted this piece to evoke joy of life and pleasure, while maintaining a natural elegance, a class from those years of celebration and freedom. You can almost imagine the clicking of heels on the floor, the smoke from a cigarette holder, the rhythm of a piano or an orchestra in a Parisian cabaret… yet the sculpture retains its nonchalance.
The metallic lace lets the eye wander, revealing the strength and fragility of the female body, transforming the material into a suspended dance. Light and space become an integral part of the sculpture, enhancing its living and organic character.
With Hopefully, I wanted to offer a slice of dream, pleasure, and elegance, where the body becomes music, light, and a memory of past celebrations.
