This bronze man's back sculpture embodies for me the tension between grounding and elevation, between matter and silence.
A human presence suspended in the material
In Montagne Yogi 89-22, I sought to capture the essence of the human body in its most inner form. This man's back, deliberately fragmented, is not just an anatomical representation: it becomes a sensitive, almost organic surface, where light reveals every relief.
The bronze, worked in lace, gives the material a living, vibrant dimension. It is no longer a frozen body, but a presence in transformation, as if it were emerging or disappearing into space.
Between mountain and meditation
The title Montagne Yogi suggests a double meaning. On one hand, the verticality and mineral strength of a mountain. On the other, the inner stillness of the yogi, in a posture of concentration and withdrawal.
I wanted to create a dialogue between these two states: the raw power of nature and the inner quest of the human being. The steel structure acts as a support, almost an external spine, to which the body clings, in a fragile balance.
