"With Pavarti Poppy, I wanted to sculpt the blossoming of a metal flower: a female bust in bronze and steel lace where fused glass lays down its scarlet petals, like a wild and precious poppy."

A floral silhouette between metallic strength and transparency

In this work, the female body becomes the support for an imaginary bloom inspired by the lightness of the poppy. I sought to capture the fragility of this wildflower through the brilliance of fused glass, while preserving the powerful and assertive structure of Pavarti sculptures. The bust’s posture evokes a breath, a vital impulse that seems to make the color emerge directly from the metal structure. It is a piece that celebrates femininity in its most poetic and springlike aspect, bringing a touch of organic cheerfulness and a luminous presence that transforms cold metal into a garden of light.

The innovation of fused glass at the heart of metal lace

The major originality of Pavarti Poppy lies in the technical marriage between fused metal and fused glass. The glass, worked at high temperature to achieve intense and translucent shades of red, is inserted into the lace of steel and bronze. This alliance creates a striking contrast between the raw, ribbed aspect of the metal and the smooth, shiny surface of the glass. Light passes through the glass petals to project colorful reflections on the surrounding walls, making the sculpture vibrate with the lighting. Each piece is a unique creation, signed and certified, where the modern gesture of the sculptor meets the ancestral delicacy of glasswork.

FAQ

What is the meaning of the name Poppy for this sculpture? The name directly refers to the poppy, whose red and fragile flower is represented here by the fused glass elements. This highlights the contrast between the solidity of the metal and the delicacy of a wildflower.

How is the fused glass technique integrated into the bust? The glass is first fused at high temperature to create the desired shapes and colors. It is then manually set into the metal lace mesh using my drop-by-drop fusion technique, which ensures a solid fixation while preserving transparency.

Why choose the mix of steel and bronze with glass? Steel provides the dark structure, bronze adds warm and golden highlights, and the red glass offers a vivid chromatic punctuation. Together, these three materials create a rich visual depth that changes depending on the viewing angle and light.

Where is it best to display Pavarti Poppy indoors? To reveal all its magic, ideally place it near a source of natural light or under targeted lighting. The light will then pass through the red glass elements, projecting colorful reflections and highlighting the airy mesh of the body.

Is the sculpture a unique piece or a series? It is a strictly unique work. Although the theme can be repeated, the design of the metal lace and the shape of the fused glass shards result from a spontaneous artistic gesture impossible to reproduce identically. It is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
