Between the strength of metal and the delicacy of lace

With Belisama Inner AlchemyI seek to give form to what takes place within us, to the invisible forces that shape our identity over time. This life-size female bust, made from steel metal lace, allows me to explore a contrast that is dear to me: that of a raw, powerful, almost dark material that, through my work, becomes an airy and delicate structure. The metal lace allows the eye and light to pass through, revealing a feminine presence that is both assertive and mysterious.

I chose to emphasize this duality by applying sheets of gold metal leaf to certain parts of the sculpture. These luminous lines stand out against the dark structure and seem to trace inner pathways, as if a deep energy were flowing through the material. I am not simply seeking to contrast black and gold, but to bring these two worlds into dialogue: depth and radiance, density and lightness, strength and sensitivity.

Inner Alchemy: a sculpture about self-transformation

To me, inner alchemy evokes our ability to transform our experiences, our trials, and our discoveries into a new strength. Nothing is fixed: every event leaves a mark, every encounter changes us, and every stage helps reveal a part of ourselves. The sculpture’s golden lines symbolize this intimate journey, sometimes imperceptible, through which our personal history becomes an inner richness.

I wanted Belisama Inner Alchemy invites each person to form their own interpretation. Its life-size female silhouette asserts a presence in space, while its metal lace preserves a sense of transparency and fragility. This work belongs to my Collection Works range and my Life-size Body Collection. I imagine it in an interior where variations in light gradually reveal its details and contrasts. More than a representation of the female body, I see it as an evocation of our inner world: that secret alchemy that transforms what we experience and gradually brings us closer to our essence.
