With this female bust sculpture in metal lace, I wanted to create a form between body and bird, a natural elevation carried by the movement of flight.
Between female body and bird in full flight
In Belisama L’Envol, the female bust transforms. It is no longer limited to a human presence; it opens up, unfolds, as if borrowing something from the aerial world. The lines evoke wings, an extension of the body outward.
There is in this form a closeness to large birds, like the eagle or the buzzard. Not in a direct representation, but in the attitude, in the way it occupies space with precision. The body becomes elevation, it leaves the ground without ever losing its balance.
This transformation gives the sculpture a sense of controlled freedom. Nothing is abrupt; everything is fluid, carried.
A harmony of movement and material
Made of metal lace, the sculpture plays on a subtle balance between steel and bronze. The material, worked drop by drop, reveals voids that lighten the form and give it an airy dimension.
This openwork structure allows the eye to move freely, like air around a bird in flight. Light passes through the sculpture, enhancing this feeling of lightness and suspended movement.
Bronze brings warmth and nobility, while steel structures and supports the whole. This combination creates a natural harmony, without opposition, where each element finds its place.
The sculpture does not aim to represent flight; it captures its essence. It presents an elegant presence, a gentle, almost silent ascent, where the body becomes movement.
