"With this sculpture, I wanted to pay tribute to the rigorous geometry of Fernand Léger while shifting it into the invisible, transforming the cubist structure into a spectral silhouette, light as a breath of metal."
The Spirit of Fernand Léger: An Aesthetic of Structure
In Ghosts, the form is directly inspired by Fernand Léger’s visual language. It features a taste for clean lines, the interlocking of volumes, and a unique way of fragmenting the body to reveal its modern architecture. It is an ode to cubism, where every curve and metal intersection builds a solid silhouette, almost mechanical in its precision.
However, where Léger painted the density of modern working life, I propose here a deconstruction through emptiness. The form is present, assertive, but weighs nothing. It is a reinterpretation of the artist’s "tubism," where the structure no longer serves to imprison matter but to outline the contours of an absence.
Metal Lace: Sculpting the Lightness of the Soul
The title "Ghosts" reveals the deep intention of the work: to capture the evanescence of the soul. The drop-by-drop fusion technique creates a body that seems to be in the process of dematerialization. Light passes through the steel and bronze walls, making the sculpture permeable to its environment, like an apparition passing through walls.
Steel brings the industrial resonance dear to cubists, while touches of bronze warm this ethereal frame, like a remnant of life still beating in the metal. Circling the work, the "ghost" seems to come alive, changing density depending on the viewing angle. It is a piece where matter becomes spirit, and where geometric rigor fades before the poetry of the invisible.

Learn More About the Sculpture "Ghosts 50-25"
How does this sculpture pay tribute to Fernand Léger? It adopts the cubism codes and the simplification of forms dear to the artist, notably the work on cylindrical volumes and the dynamic structure of the human body reinterpreted in a modern way.
What does the title "Ghosts" mean for this work? The title evokes immateriality. Despite the use of heavy metals like steel and bronze, the metal lace technique makes the form transparent and light, evoking the passage of a soul or a lingering memory.
How does metal lace interact with cubism? Cubism fragments reality. Here, metal lace pushes this fragmentation to emptiness. We no longer just see the facets of the body; we see through them, integrating the surrounding space into the very structure of the work.
What materials are used for "Ghosts 50-25"? The sculpture is made by fusing steel and bronze. This mix combines the graphic strength of blackened metal with the precious shine of bronze, creating a striking visual contrast.
Is the sculpture a unique piece? Yes, each drop of metal is manually applied spontaneously on the structure, making each "ghost" unique. It is signed and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
