With this bronze and steel male back sculpture, I wanted to explore the silent power of the human body through one of its most expressive forms: the back.

The back: an architecture of the body

In the sculpture Kouros Ceylan, the male back becomes a true architecture of lines and tensions. Unlike the face, which expresses emotions directly, the back speaks differently: through the body's structure, the musculature, and the balance of the shoulders.

This part of the body has a particular strength. It evokes solidity, protection, and stability at the same time. The back then becomes a symbol of a strong and silent human presence.

Metal lace: revealing the body through emptiness

The sculpture is made using metal lace, a technique that involves melting bronze and steel drop by drop to create an openwork metal network. This structure lets light through and reveals the body by its contours rather than by a solid mass.

Bronze brings an organic warmth to certain areas of the body, while steel structures the whole and highlights the main lines of the silhouette. The work belongs to the Kouros series, dedicated to exploring the male body in contemporary sculpture.
