With this metal buttocks sculpture, I wanted to explore the volumes of the human body by playing with three different metals that create depth, light, and contrast.
The body as an architecture of forms
In Kouros Vision de Cocagne, the buttocks become a true sculptural architecture. The shape is deliberately simple and powerful, recalling the classical tradition of human body sculpture.
The Kouros series is inspired by the idealized figures of ancient Greece. Here, the body is not only represented: it is interpreted as an essential, almost abstract form, where the curves of the pelvis and legs structure the space.
Bronze, steel, and aluminum: a dialogue of materials
The sculpture combines three different metals that create a particular visual richness. The dark parts are made of steel lace, the brown areas of bronze lace, while the aluminum appears as light drops that bring depth and contrast to the whole.
Aluminum plays an important role here: its light color creates a visual perspective and gives the impression that certain areas of the sculpture stand out or project into space. The whole is made by metal dripping, a technique that consists of melting metals drop by drop to create an openwork metal lace.
