With Lampadaire Flamme, "the fire of light", I wanted to transform light into sculpture.
This work is made using my steel lace technique, achieved by letting the metal melt drop by drop to create an open and vibrant mesh. The material then seems to freeze in motion, like a flame captured in the moment.
The form rises above the floor, suspended at the base of the lamp like a breath of fire. The metallic lace lets air and light pass through, giving the flame a presence that is both light and intense.
Inside, an area covered with 24-carat gold leaf captures the light and amplifies its glow. The gold is not just decoration: it becomes the luminous heart of the sculpture, revealing every vibration of the metal.
When the light turns on, the sculpture changes nature. Shadows are cast around it, the flame seems to move, as if animated by an invisible breath.
In my work, I like the sculpture to interact with space and light. Here, the lamp becomes almost a contemporary hearth, a warm presence that inhabits the room.
With Lampadaire Flamme, I wanted the metal to become light:
a flame suspended between matter, heat, and poetry.
