With this flame lamp in metal sculpture, I wanted to transform light into material and give the flame a sculptural presence.
A flame sculpted in metal lace
The Flame lamp takes the shape of a slender flame made of steel lace. This metallic texture is achieved by melting steel drop by drop, creating an openwork structure that evokes the lightness of a metallic fabric.
This lace allows light to flow freely through the sculpture. The flame seems to vibrate and transform depending on the lighting and viewing angle, giving the lamp a lively presence in the space.
Gold to reveal the light’s brilliance
The inside of the flame is covered with 24-carat gold leaf. This precious coating captures the bulb’s light and amplifies its warmth, creating a luminous halo at the heart of the sculpture.
At the center of the flame is a lighting system equipped with a bulb, which emits a soft and lasting light. The sculpture rests on a steel base, giving the whole stability and balance.
