The rabbit is an animal both familiar and mysterious. In this work, I wanted to capture the gentle and attentive presence that characterizes this discreet animal.
This animal sculpture is made with bronze and steel lace. The metal is worked to create a living, almost organic material where solids and voids let light pass through. This technique gives the rabbit a presence that is both fragile and powerful.
The rabbit’s posture, sitting and slightly curled in on itself, evokes a suspended moment. One imagines the animal listening to its surroundings, ready to leap or simply immersed in a form of inner calm.
The shades between the dark steel and the bronze parts bring visual richness and depth to the sculpture. Depending on the viewing angle and light, the textures reveal new details.
Like all works in the Intimate Sculptures series, this piece is designed to create a personal connection with the viewer. Through its size and intensity, it invites close and silent contemplation.
