"With this sculpture, I wanted to shape silence: a yogi’s body that becomes a mountain, an immobile presence that draws a bridge between the inner world of the East and the quest for truth of the West."
The body-landscape: an allegory of knowledge
In Montagne Yogi, the male silhouette is not just anatomy; it becomes a sacred geography. The seated posture, stable and powerful, evokes the mountain, a universal symbol of immutability and elevation. It is a tribute to asceticism and the mystery of silence, that state where man withdraws into himself to better understand the world.
This work directly echoes the allegory of the cave: the yogi turns his back on the shadows projected on the walls of appearance to seek the inner light. It represents this difficult but necessary passage toward self-knowledge, where the body becomes the temple of a silent truth. Contemplating this piece, one feels the bridge cast between the Eastern philosophy of detachment and the Western quest for wisdom.
Metal lace: sculpting air and spirit
The drop-by-drop fusion technique is used here to express the porosity between man and the universe. The steel and bronze lace does not form a barrier but a mesh that lets the breath (the Prana) circulate. The void is no longer an absence but the materialization of meditative space, that inner fullness that no longer needs mass to exist.
Steel provides the earthly structure and the strength of grounding, while bronze, with its warm gleams, illuminates the silhouette like the first rays of the sun on a Himalayan peak. Light passes through the sculpture and casts shadows that seem to breathe with the rhythm of the gaze. Montagne Yogi is not just a work of art; it is an invitation to stillness and peace.

Learn more about the sculpture "Montagne Yogi"
What does the shape of this sculpture symbolize? It symbolizes the union between man and nature. The posture evokes both a meditator (yogi) and a mountain, representing stability, patience, and spiritual elevation.
What is the connection with the allegory of the cave? As in Plato’s myth, the Yogi represents one who escapes illusions to face reality. The transparency of the metal lace evokes this passage from shadow (raw matter) to light (knowledge).
Why speak of a bridge between East and West? The work merges the millennia-old practice of Eastern meditation with a Western sculptural and philosophical expression. It is a meeting between yoga and humanism.
Which metals are used to express this spirituality? I chose steel for its robustness, evoking earth and structure, and bronze for its brightness, symbolizing awakening and inner energy.
Is the sculpture an original work? Yes, each metal point is hand-fused, making each piece absolutely unique. It is signed by the artist and comes with a certificate of authenticity.
