What is a "Titi Parisien" portrayed as a cat? The Titi Parisien is traditionally a child of Paris, lively, clever, and popular. Transposed here as a cat, it symbolizes absolute independence and that slightly rebellious elegance typical of alley cats who rule the city rooftops.
How is the painting mounted on the wall? The work is designed to be hung easily. The steel lace structure is fixed on a discreet support or includes integrated hanging points that create a slight gap from the wall, thus enhancing the cast shadows and relief.
How is the steel lace worked for a painting? I use manual drop-by-drop fusion. Unlike a solid metal plate, the lace lets the subject breathe. The "Chat Titi" is thus drawn by welding points that form an irregular mesh, capturing light in a unique way.
Is this a unique piece? Yes, absolutely. Each painting is handmade in my workshop. The steel lace design is the result of a spontaneous gesture, making it impossible to recreate the exact same cat twice. It is an original work signed Philippe Buil.
