Basque Dog: A Graphic Silhouette Between Strength and Melancholy
With this steel artwork, I wanted to pay tribute to an aesthetic dear to me, that of Bernard Buffet's clowns. It features sharp lines, vertical strokes, and an expression that is both graphic and profound. The "Basque Dog" stands here as an emblematic figure, captured in a metallic lace where each drop of fused steel outlines a clear contour and a unique presence.
The piece plays on a striking contrast: the robust and almost austere structure of the dog, typical of this Buffet inspiration, is balanced by the lightness of the organic lace surrounding it. On one side, the animal’s face asserts itself with silent dignity; on the other, the metal unfolds into a complex, openwork pattern that lets light through and casts moving shadows on your walls. This is a piece from the Intimate range that combines artistic homage with the modernity of metal sculpture, creating an open window into a world both familiar and mysterious.
