With this metal face sculpture, I wanted to get to the essence: a simple, direct, almost obvious presence.
A face in its greatest simplicity
In Une larme 58-23, the face is treated with great economy of means. The lines are sober, the shapes readable, without seeking effect. This simplicity gives the sculpture a particular strength: it does not divert the gaze, it holds it.
The face is not overloaded with details. It stands out in a clear, almost silent form, where emotion remains contained. This approach allows an immediate, almost instinctive reading without interpretation.
Metal lace: an obvious choice in the material
Made of steel and bronze using the metal lace technique, the sculpture maintains a balance between structure and lightness. The drip technique creates an openwork material where light flows freely.
Unlike more complex forms, here the material supports the simplicity of the subject. It does not seek to multiply effects but to support the readability of the face. The play between solid and void remains present but controlled, serving a clear and stable presence.
The whole creates a direct sculpture, straightforward, where the strength comes precisely from what is restrained.
